Hi there! It's always weird introducing yourself through a website, but here I am! I'm "the" Laura Holder of Laura Holder Design, and I'm glad you're here.

As long as I have been able to hold objects in my hands, I have created things. Whether using charcoal, oil paints or a computer mouse, I have always found great joy in using my imagination to compose unique pieces of art.

I graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) in 2003 with a degree in Industrial Design. Upon graduating, I worked at a design firm on the northside of Milwaukee, where I spent 6 years working on projects for clients such as LeapFrog and Microsoft.

Laura Holder Design, About Laura

In 2009, I changed jobs in a quest for more diversity and landed a position at a design firm just down the block from MIAD, where I spent my weekdays designing for clients including Amazon, Chrysler (FCA), Sears and Lowes. I made the decision to wean out of the corporate grind in 2016 so I could focus on my dreams of entrepreneurship and have never looked back. The corporate office environment enabled me to have first-hand experience of how brand image and marketing integrity are crucial for a company's success.

I currently reside in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with my husband and our beloved pooches, Oscar and Ernie. Outside of designing, I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed through the CCPDT, a Certified Nose Work Instructor through the NACSW, the owner of Connecting with Dogs, a co-founder of the Force Free Trainers of Wisconsin, and a Member of the Pet Professional Guild. In 2016, I co-founded a nonprofit, Midwest Conservation Dogs, and have since focused my dog training career on training and handling professional detection dogs. I'm a busy gal, yes, but I love what I do and cannot picture my life a different way.
